STATUS OF ”HOMESTEAD” LETTER

FROM CITIZENS PROPERTY INSURANCE CORPORATION

A letter from Citizens Property Insurance Corporation was sent in October to a number of plaintiffs concerning the “homestead” status of their leasehold property on Pensacola Beach.   It appears that this “Important Information Regarding Your Insurance Policy” was sent to leaseholders with a “non-homestead” status.  This letter stated that “Your “Non-Homestead” status means that you are no longer automatically eligible for future coverage with Citizens Property Insurance Corporation and that you are subject to additional policyholder assessments.”

This matter was brought to the attention of our attorneys at Shell, Fleming, Davis & Menge on October 25.  A letter was written to one of the Citizens insurance underwriters advising Citizens of Pensacola Beach leaseholders situation.  A copy of that letter is posted along with this notice.  Our attorneys are working with Underwood, Anderson & Assoc. to move this matter through the Citizens bureaucracy.  As soon as some resolution is reached, additional information will be provided on this web site.
