MAY 11, 2010 UPDATE

The Santa Rosa case known as “Accardo v. Brown” (Clerk’s file # 06-1064-CA) involves the taxation of leasehold land on Navarre Beach. On May 7, Judge Gary Bergosh ruled against the Navarre Beach leaeholders. They are now being taxed on the land as well as the improvements. It is anticipated that this decision will be appealed.

Unlike the Pensacola Beach cases, Judge Bergosh ruled from the bench at the conclusion of the arguments from the attorneys on both sides of the case. There will be a written opinion. When it is available, it will be posted to this web site.

It is anticipated that Chris Jones, the Escambia County Property Appraiser, will follow the lead of his counterpart in Santa Rosa County and tax the land in addition to the improvements in the fall of 2010.
